Publication: Positivism, the New Haven School, and the Use of Force in International Law

Hey guys,

a bit of self-advertisement:

One of my earlier essays has just been published in the Journal of the Brussels School for International Studies (BSIS). If you are interested in international law regarding the use of force and methodological approaches to it, you can access the paper at the journal's website:

Colbert Roasts George Doubleyou Bush

For those of you who would like to joyfully distract themselves from whatever provides you with an unpleasant experience, please take a look at Stephen Colbert's verbal assassination of the acting US President, if you haven't done so already: http://video.google.de/videoplay?docid=-869183917758574879&q=Stephen+Col...

Enjoy!

PS: For those of you who find this recommendation culturally insensitive or politically incorrect: I will later claim that I was on morphine when I wrote this entry Eye-wink

Some of you have mentioned that you have had trouble finding a Berne city guide in english language. As most of you probably already have figured out, www.cityhunter.ch is an excellent website where you find everything from culture, sightseeing, and sports to parties, food and health - with detailed descriptions of the respective locations. Just change the language to english once you enter the site.

WTO News and Research Sources

WTO News:
For updates on WTO and trade related news on a weekly and monthly basis you should check out the ICTSD (International Council For Trade and Sustainable Development) website (www.ictsd.org). There, you can subscribe to the well researched "Bridges Weekly Digest" and "Bridges Monthly Review" newsletters. Most of you have done so already, I suppose. If you haven't yet, I'd very much recommend them.

Research:
With regard to more in-depth research, I think I have mentioned the www.worldtradelaw.net website in class before. It provides you with commentaries and summaries on all DSB cases, has a limited online library, refers to all major trade law journals on the market, and updates on all major events....etc. etc.

Aya Khalaf is MILE 7 Vice Class Representative

As the one who merely 'administered' and 'observed' our election today, I would like to add to Ulan's report, that we have also agreed today that we want to have a vice representative - the person who received second most votes in the election exercise.

Since Aziz - being assured of my personal respect for this move - supported Aya as a vice rep after both received the same amount of votes, Aya is - surprise, surprise - elected to fulfil Manolo's functions if he should not be, for whatever reason, be able to do so.

Please let me make a short remark concerning those who might think that the whole issue is of minor importance: From the last five years of experience at four different universities, I have at least learned one thing: There have ALWAYS been and there ALWAYS will be 'issues' which come up at some point in time, sometimes of less, sometimes of crucial importance.
