moot court grades & night about town
Submitted by Andrew Locher on Wed, 2007-09-26 16:37.hi guys!
if you check your wti email addresses you will notice that i *finally* sent you the score sheets and grades for the moot court! again, i am really sorry that this took so long. transposing all the scores took some time and getting all the lecturers/judges feedback organized wasn't easy either. i'm going to try to streamline the whole thing next year -- but that's obviously of no use to you.
anyway, for some, it's their last days here in berne, and i thought we could go grab a drink tomorrow evening. how about we meet around 9pm at zytglogge?
cheers!

I hope all of you -- wherever on the globe you might be -- are doing well and are enjoying the summer! The WTI is a bit of a dull place without you... But other then that life is good & we are all keeping busy with the summer programme.

Public International Law II
Submitted by Azizjon Nazarov on Mon, 2006-11-06 11:58.Public International Law II
Assessment is going to be a briefing of a short case on WTO law where you need to understand the issue and reach the right answer.
What skills a good attorney should have:
· Reading with comprehension
· Listening
· Analyzing/thinking
· Speaking – a good lawyer should be able to control the audience
Reading and understanding
You must be able to brief cases effectively and you may leave out important points of a case if you use online briefs.
Arbitrator/judge should show that he/she understood the parties and their positions. Not only justice to be done, but also be seen. You are expected to understand all issues in the case and provide your logical answer. You don’t have to just provide the right answer.

Public International Law I from lecture 2 (now with wikipedia links)
Submitted by Azizjon Nazarov on Tue, 2006-10-24 09:48.PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL LAW I
Lecture 2 Tuesday
Enforcement is totally separate topic because finding relevant law does not guarantee the enforcement of the law found.
There is always a balance of interests in the society, so for instance, you are not allowed to exceed speed limit. Except in Germany. On the other hand, if you are driving fast because you need to save someone else’s life may to some extent serve as your justification.
In international law there is a distinct lack of hierarchy. A judgment will be eventually reached but there are no clear guidelines. There are few exceptions of course.

Assessment Template for Students Week 1
Submitted by Ulan Melisbek on Thu, 2006-10-12 20:16.Hi,
Hope you all are doing fine with the assessment.
It took me a little while to figure out where to write the text of the assessment. Apparently, I missed some announcement about this today and started to write on a blank Word page. It only turned out for me when I logged in WTI email system that Corinne has sent a ready-to-use template to everyone. So I am attaching it here (together with the assessment file in pdf format) just for the case there was another absent-minded person like myself in today's class.
