Photo project "MILE students far from home"

Hi guys,

I shared with some of you my “photo project”, for the rest of you I will do that now:

I have an idea of “MILE students far from home” project. We already spent some months far from home, and I’m sure everybody tried somehow to personalize its private space in the residences, to make it cozy, probably like home, to change the interior. Although far from home, we try to bring warmth and things we like into the standard sterile student’s room.

Let's collect funny moments happened during the lectures (or not necessarily) in WTI

I really enjoyed today's jokes of Pr. Cadot about the Indians who knew English spelling best and about a woman with impaired hearing being told she was fired. I call you, guys, to collect all other jokes for us to remember and good sweet memories.

How to search in IDS Library

As some of you have probably noticed, I am trying to collect all the useful for sMILEies links at one place - in the special block of "Useful links" at left lower side of the website.

Today, I have added a new link - to the IDS Library Search page, which also is accessable via http://www.wti.org.

For your information, I have also attached a pdf-file with instructions on how to search in the library: http://milestudents.com/files/LibrarysearchviaIDSBasel.pdf

Economic proverbs, addages

Mankiw sometimes gives excellent expressions, reading which made me think to offer to sMILEies to collect all the wise addages of our countries, that help us to develop thinking in Economics way.

So I start with the proverbs from the book:

1. Don't cry over spilt milk
2. Let buygons be buzgons

And I am adding kzrgz proverb, which really sounds well in my language, but kind of meaningless in English. But still...

3. Drop by drop becomes sea.

Continue numeration, please.

Save your time - redirect your WTI email to your personal email!

Small tip that will help to save your time. Instead of logging in and checking different e-mail accounts, it is much better to collect all your correspondence at one place. For example, I do not like featureless e-mail system of WTI and have forwaded it to my personal e-mail account. Now everything sent to my WTI e-mail account automatically goes to my personal e-mail, and thus without logging into WTI email server I am able to track it also.

Survival instructions. Support from older sMILEies to new ones

I am working in the WTO Wing of the Ministry of Commerce and Foreign Trade in Pakistan. I would like to share information with the new MILE and may be give some advices and tips on how to survive the rigorous MILE.

Ciao,
Humaira
